<bump>

Looks like the Navy may or may not have given a little more money to this.
If we're lucky - they have and WB-7 is being built and will be tested.

IF WB-7 works as planned - then you can kiss your futures in Solar and Wind power as worthless and a waste of time. Same for fission reactors.

Here's to the future and Mr. Fusion!
btw Dr Bussard died in Oct 2007... :(

P.S.

I'm BUILDING one of these for MY backyard!

BUMP!!!

You MUST read this: More on the Reactor

Maz notes: fusion power in < 10 years that generates 1GW for $2million construction cost.

Think about 1GW of power from a 4 meter station, generating electricity directly from the reaction and exhausting Helium gas w/ almost nil neutron emission.

Bussard was a fucking genius and one of the leading lights of the nuclear physics world. It's a shame he died before he saw production plants from his design. It is a simple yet brilliant concept that makes containment of the plasma much easier.

Nice view of the latest WB-7
Scroll to the bottom and you can see the device inside the vacuum chamber happily making Helium plasma.

That's a cool shot.

Isn't this the thing that would destroy the planet from a quark or a squint or hydrogen thing that hits another thing and turns the earth into a star and destroys all life forever and ever?

Noper.

Polywell fusion is the Environmental Whacko's worst nightmare. If this little fucker works like it seems it might THEN those godforsaken leftists motherfuckers won't have a goddamned thing to whine about and they'll have to find another fucking cause. This is fusion energy that produces Helium gas (as opposed to BFB gas) as an end product along with electricity directly from the fusion.

The thing yer talking about is the new Hadron Collider where they're postulating the energies may be high enough to produce either a nano-black hole or strange matter.

A Nano-black hole will prolly just evaporate from what I know of the current theories. If I didn't understand them correctly (or the Physicists who do fucked up a calculation) this black hole will nonchalantly oscillate between the point of it's creation and the other side of our blue planet and slowly and ever increasingly EAT atoms as it passes thru on each oscillation growing slightly bigger so it eats more and eventually...END OF WORLD - we become a blackhole slightly larger than about ten meters.

Strange matter merely does something similar - it's a weird form of matter that has no real objection to the number of proton/neutron in a nucleus of an atom and thereby eating more atoms as it does the oscillation thing turns planet earth into a super nuclei and it's END OF THE WORLD - we become a mass of strange matter somewhere the size of our moon.

So

Nothing to worry about. Gawn about yer business...Nothing ta see, we gottit unda control...

on the bio-diesel topic, there have been thefts of used cooking grease here in Nor Cal and people other then used oil resellers have been emptying local oil collection bins.

bio-diesel kind of makes me laugh.
There is not as much old cooking oil as people are led to believe.

So thieving is not too surprising given the higher price of diesel.
Of course - the fucktards in congress will not *think* about going out and building anther refinery for the new oil wells we could be drilling right now and the oil shales that could be processed right now to FUCKING REDUCE OUR FOREIGN OIL DEPENDENCY!

This total Marxist nonsense about "Big Oil" is a hype of a lie so big that your head would unscrew right off.
We're getting EXACTLY the price of oil products that we deserve because of the short-sightedness and the total gullibility of the American public.
This is exactly what the eco-whackos want.

hey I am payed by a company to pick up the used cooking oil at my resteraunt, it takes about 3 weeks to fill the dumpster and we see about $200 per pick up, we get 85% of what he sells it for on the open market after he recycles it.
