As if it weren't bad enough for Hawaii...

Postby Bigfatbino » December 11th, 2007, 6:23 pm

....Well, tomorrow the Honolulu City council is actually having a HEARING to consider taxing anyone who has a small-time Bed and Breakfast or vacation rental at hotel and resort property tax rates....(roughly translated, probably about $80k a year).  Even though that's called "spot assessment" and was deemed to be illegal once before.

/sigh

I'm getting tired of this shit. The US is really starting to piss me off with all this absolute bullshit backdoor blackballing of mom and pop business.

Someone call up the Terror Australis boys and ask em how it is down under, I'm considering a move

Hawaii is run(don) by Democrats.
They've been socialists for years now - it's not all that surprising that they're trying to steal more money from small business owners simply because it's a pretty standard tactic to hit axes upon a smaller group, group by group, until it's too late to say no because everyone has been hit.

Sometimes I think it will come down to a shooting war between those who want America to become a new Soviet Union and those of us who want this country to remain as it was conceived.

So I can understand your frustration BFB.

Sound like SF because they have passed a bunch of laws that were ruled illegal once, yet 5 or 10 years later they pass the same thing.

As Wence said, it seems there is one group of people who seem to like to do this time and again.

And until the Republicans can make more squeaky noises, the Left is just going to continue to bamboozle the poor masses into thinking that socialism works.

Never mind that the Soviet Union collapsed, that China uses capitalism, that nationalized products really really suck (for you goobers that didn't get it - that includes Health Care)

Some of them are deaf, blind and still loudly speaking. Look at Reid, Kennedy, Byrd and Pelosi - not one of them listens to the real constituency, they listen to a rather small noisy bunch that means America harm.
It's people like these clowns that should be going to jail for treason and high crimes. They spent SEVEN YEARS trying to show President Bush lied to the American people about anything you care to name and so far, President Bush has been shown time and time again as correct. THey could have spent seven years bolstering their power base, but they accomplished NOTHING.

Except - getting the LOWEST approval rating by ANY member of the US Government including President Nixon. Pelosi and Ried should have been recalled for the most ineffective leadership in congress since congress began.

I am still amazed that anyone still listens to those idiots.

Australia isn't the US, while I am basically on my to Australia, I don't think I would live there. The US is the best.

So yah....

we had about 12 people show up to this meeting and testify against it (keep in mind, 12 people showing up to testify is damned good for only getting 48 hours notice duringg the Christmas season).

after which the city council passed it 8-1.....

I'm VERY seriously considering ex-patriating to another country. Land of the free my ass..

we have never been "free". We pay exceptionally high taxes to support a confortable and overall good society, but free is not exactly true.

I only admit to half of that statement at a time - not both together.
You can be comfy and good w/o high taxes
We do pay exceptionally high taxes - until Bush cut them. They are still high - but you should remember what they were prior to that cut.

So these assholes on the shitty council are passing like 5 or 6 bills at a time, and when we're giving testimony, some of them are getting up and LEAVING the room, going for coffee, coming back after like 20 minutes....it was total bullshit.

Then they passed it 20 seconds after we were done testifying about it. I'm so steamed, I'm seriously considering leaving the US. Yeah, I could probably have more freedom in North Montana, but there are other tropical places on this earth that like tourists and don't care who you rent your home to.

The only thing that can be done, is if it was deemed illegal once before, then it will need to be challenged in court with reference to this past decision. This of course takes money though, but with a past decision in your corner, it should be fairly easy to challenge and have knocked down.

Move to a republican sate or at least a state where the "Democrat Leftists" are not and have not been in power since the inception of the state bro.

The BUSH tax cuts helped, but they were only on the federal level, not on the state and local level.

Good luck to you and anything you choose to do....

Where tho do you think you can go outside of the USA for a lower tax break? Canada? think again a if you are serious, do a lot of research...

A LOT and consider what it will REALLY cost you when you factor in what is required in bribes for local officials in the country you think will do you better in than the leftist state of Hawaii.

ROFL Sorry you had the false impression that most Politicians listen to the people or care what they have to say. You think they follow what the people want or tell them to do?

CA is a picture postcard example for how this works when we passed 2 bills by almost 70% of the population, which were no benefits for Illegals and Marriage was between a Man and a Woman, yet the politicians keep passing bills left and right that go against it.

Where tho do you think you can go outside of the USA for a lower tax break? Canada? think again a if you are serious, do a lot of research...

Yes, while the US has some high taxes, it is nothing compared to Canada or the EU, because they are even worst on having them tax and push stuff against what the people want a lot of times. I know France and the UK are starting to get big deficits because a lot of people with money moving it out of those countries to get away from the taxes they have.

As you stated it was a City doing this and you might look at buying outside city limits next time because counties are a little better at times with the taxes and regulations.

Ron Paul is a nutjob,
the people he seems to attract are nutjobs, well the ones that make the most noise certainly are.

Ron Paul has a chance of pulling down .05% of the vote.
He certainly will not make any primaries because he *is* a nutjob.

Well, you certainly can't argue with such an impressive and well-thought-out response like that. I mean if name-calling doesn't convince the populace, what tactic would?

Typical leftist response. If you like living in a nanny-state then move to Hawai'i.
