Autism Awareness...

Postby Erilyn Cureheart » March 16th, 2008, 2:27 am

As some of you know, April is a big month for Autism. Even celebrities are getting in on the awareness and fund raising.
VH1 Classic's Rock Autism campaign is designed to help educate parents and build awareness about autism, a complex neurobiological developmental disorder that lasts throughout a person's lifetime, and to raise funds for a variety of autism research, advocacy, and support organizations. Autism affects one in every 150 children, with a child diagnosed every 21 minutes. Today, there is no known cause or cure. VH1 Classic aims to galvanize a community of artists and fans in support of this cause.

I am all for this. I want Autism out there in the public so that I can say "My son is Autistic." when they look at me as if I don't know how to handle a "problem child" or some crap like that.
I just want people to understand.

On another note... this thread and the other one is where I come to share and I'd like it very much if the thread doesn't get locked. This topic is just that important to me, and to a few others.
